THE HOBBS FAMILY - 1881 CENSUS
The 1881 Census records a totally different picture. The family have moved to an adjoining property 18 North Wharf Road Paddington London and have expanded in numbers. The move to the property will have occurred at sometime prior to January 1879

By the time of the 1881 Census, my great grandfather JAMES HOBBS had moved out of the family home. It is believed that prior to marrying ELIZABETH he had been married before but that his first wife had died during childbirth At the time of his second marriage in 1882 he was living at 3 Elnathan Mews, Paddington, London.
Ten years later in 1891, the family are still in 18 Wharf, North Wharf Road Paddington (RG 12 - 3 page 42 Entry 316)

There are changes though as both THOMAS HOBBS senior and his daughter MARY HOBBS are no longer living at the property. Interestingly at 16 Wharf next door (North Wharf Road Paddington ) is my great grandfather JAMES HOBBS and his young family.
