Note: At the beginning on the nineteenth century Tipton in the West Midlands was still a collection of hamlets - Princes End, Ocker Hill, Toll End, Great Bridge, Burnt Tree and Tipton Green. The process of rapid industrialisation in the mid to late nineteenth century especially in coal and iron meant that these small hamlets merged together to form what is now Tipton
The IGI Index reports that there is an entry in the Parish Registers of St Thomas Church, Dudley, Worcester for the marriage on 14th June 1846 of JOSIAH SHUTT and VICTORIA JONES. The only additional information that can be added at the moment is that Josiah's father was called JOSEPH SHUTT and that Victoria was the daughter of WILLIAM JONES.
The 1871 Census shows that the family were still living in Tipton, Staffordshire

Seven years earlier, the 1891 Census for Attercliffe - Darnall (Sheffield) shows Josiah Shutt as a Widower. His wife VICTORIA had died in the March quarter of 1886 (Sheffield Vol 9C Page336) age 57. He was living as a boarder at 59 Worthing Road, Sheffield and still working as a labourer.
JOSEPH SHUTT and WILLIAM JONES are my wife's great great great grandfathers
