Ecclesall All Saints Churchyard, Sheffield - War Graves
Situated at the bottom of Ringinglow Road, this churchyard is adjacent to All
Saints Church, Ecclesall, Sheffield. The list appeared eight years ago on a
message board that seems no longer to exist. I thought that it would be a shame
if these details were not available for researchers etc. and so here is the list
that has been updated with additional details. There is one notable
omission - Arnold Loosemore - whose
exploits are documented elsewhere on the site. Due to the perversity of the
authorities, Arnold's widow was refused a war pension and so he was buried in
the grave of a family who were gracious enough to allow Arnold to be buried
there
The first fifteen graves have the standard CWGC headstone whilst the remainder are family graves

Note
In the late twentieth century I saved a file to my PC that listed the war dead of Ecclesall Cemetery Sheffield. The author of the work stressed that the list was an incomplete one and that he hoped to complete it. When I checked back a few months later the file had not altered and so I forgot to check it again. Needless to say I never checked back and so it came as a shock to find that a few years later both the file and the site had disappeared. I have deliberated long and hard about posting the information to this site but have come to the conclusion that the Ecclesall War Dead deserve to be remembered and that it may prove to be a useful resource for both families researching their ancestors, and historians.
NB The only clue I have to the author is that his email address was "dogberry@lineone.net". Lineone net is no longer in existence: I believe that it was taken over by Tiscali who in turn where taken over by TalkTalk. There is no "dogberry at Tiscali. If the author contacts me I will give full acknowledgement. I have also added additional information where appropriate
