Abbey Lane Cemetery Sheffield - The War Dead

Ensanguining the skies
How heavily it dies
Into the west away;
Past touch and sight and sound
Not further to be found,
How hopeless under ground
Falls the remorseful day.

Back in the late twentieth century I saved a file to my PC that listed the war dead of Abbey Lane Cemetery Sheffield. The author of the work stressed that the list was an incomplete one and that he hoped to complete it. When I checked back a few months later the file had not altered.  Needless to say I never checked back and so it came as a shock to find that a few years later both the file and the site had disappeared. I have deliberated about posting the information to this site but have come to the conclusion that the Abbey Lane War Dead deserve to be remembered and that it may prove to be a useful resource for both families researching their ancestors, and historians.

The only clue I have to the author is that his or hers email address was "dogberry@lineone.net". Lineone net  is no longer in existence: I believe that it was taken over by Tiscali who in turn where taken over by TalkTalk. There is no "dogberry at Tiscali or TalkTalk . If the author contacts me I will give full acknowledgement to his or hers excellent endeavors. I have also added additional information where appropriate.
