The Untimely Death of George Gee - Sheffield December 1873

Whilst  I was attempting to locate the graves of James Shaw and Mary Ann Wagstaffe in the churchyard of Christ Church, Stannington, Sheffield, I came across the grave of a Mr GEORGE GEE who died on 27th December 1873. The gravestone was in remarkable condition for its age but what was even more unusual was the verse that accompanied details of George's death

FOR I WAS QUICKLY CALLED AWAY

The first  newspaper report I located so was from The Birmingham Daily Post dated 29th December 1873 which states

Sheffield and Rotherham Independent dated 3rd January 1874 added additional information about the accident and the injuries that George sustained

The burial register for Stannington Church states

GEE, GEORGE (~, age 24). Died at Fowler St; Buried on December 31, 1873 in Consecrated ground; Grave Number ~, Section ~ of Christ Church Cemetery, Stannington.

Notes

I am of the opinion that TERESA and MARY ELIZABETH GEE who are buried with GEORGE are his nieces and that the SAMUEL mentioned on the headstone is GEORGE's brother
